In 2023, COERR has been implementing the Livelihood Program for persons with disabilities in the north and northeastern regions. There were 83 beneficiaries in 7 provinces, i.e. Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ratchaburi, Sakon Nakhon, Sa Kaeo, Udon Thani and Sisaket. The duration is 6 months starting June until November 2023.
The program has main objectives which are to develop trainees’ learning and skills; provide funds and support towards the persons with disabilities to raise the layer chickens and pigs for livelihood.
There were 70 persons with disabilities who requested to raise layer chickens and 13 who requested to raise pigs.
-Workshop and Study Tour about pig and layer chicken raising;
-Training on benefits and access to services provided to the Persons with Disabilities, safety at work, and accounting;
-Support funds and provide livelihood training workshop on chicken and pig raising; and
-Follow up and monitor the program by local academic trainers during the last three months of the program.
This capacity building and self- reliance program for the Persons with Disabilities received cooperation from Diocesan Social Action Center in Nakhon Ratchasima, Ratchaburi, Udonthani, Ubon Ratchathani, Tharae Church in Sakhon Nakhon Province and Hospitality House in Chiang Mai Province. The Diocesan Social Action Centers administered the program and invited academic trainers from various universities, colleges as well as private sectors, for training and working with the Person with Disabilities, Caretakers and Community Volunteers who participated in the program as follows:
